The region is an important
environmental, touristic, historical and archaeological area under the
patronage of Unesco.
Situated a few kilometres from Latina, the land is around 80 hectares
of which the majority lies within the National Park of Circeo. The
National Park of Circeo is an area that includes four coastal lakes,
the Circeo headland, the island of Zannone and the biggest lowland
forest in Italy, rich with many species of animals, birds and flora.
The land also borders with the Fogliano lake.
Nearby there is a thermal spring with potential development for a
thermal spa.
The Tyrrhenian sea (Mediterranean) with it's fabulous sandy beach (the
nearby city of Sabaudia achieved the European blue flag for it's clean
water) is just 500 metres away. In the distance are the Pontine islands
and also further inland are the Lepini mountains.
Also within easy travelling distance are the abbeys of Fossanova (where
St Thomas of Aquino died), Valvisciolo, and Monte Cassino.
Sermoneta, Torre Astura (where the last emperor of the Roman Empire,
Corradino of Svevia, died) and the gardens of Ninfa (acclaimed for the
many botanical species within the ruins of the ancient city), are also
easily reached by car.
Besides the renowned cities of Rome and Naples and their wealth of
museums and artistic and historical beauty, the nearby cities of Anzio
(with it's ancient Roman horbour ), Cori (temple of Hercules),
Terracina (temple of Jupiter), St. Felice Circeo (legend of the
sorceress Circe and caves of the Neanderthal man), Sermoneta (beautiful
medieval town), Sezze Romano are also not to be missed.
